Buysse & Partners – interior connected with iconic exterior
In collaboration with interior architects Studio Farris Architects and with furniture advice by Liesbeth Swinnen – Bulo.
Buysse & Partners upgraded the furniture in their headquarters, located on the first floor of the BP Building, in collaboration with Bulo. For Bulo, it was obvious to collaborate with a partner who has a significant link with the iconic architect and designer Léon Stynen. Read on and find out what these two have in common.
History of the BP Building
A high-rise hanging on steel cables was built in the early 1960s on behalf of BP Belgium, better known as the Belgian establishment of the oil producer British Petroleum Company, by design of the architects Léon Stynen and Paul De Meyer. A piece of architecture and one of the highlights of our Belgian post-war architecture, located on the corner of the Jan Van Rijswijcklaan and Camille Huysmanslaan in Antwerp.
Buysse & Partners
Buysse & Partners is an Antwerp investment company with offices in Belgium, Luxemburg and Latin America. In Belgium this partner is known for its real estate portfolio of iconic architectural gems such as the CBR and Glaverbel building in Watermael–Bosvoorde, Zilveren Toren in The Hague and with its headquarters in the BP building in Antwerp.
Briefing
To enhance the appearance of this imposing high-rise, Buysse & Partners was looking for furniture with a focus on the use of sustainable and timeless materials. Additionally, a warm and homely atmosphere as reinforcing factor was an important request.
Work islands
In addition to the interior this partner chose to divide the floor in work islands created with white H2O desks with a black base, based on an original design by Studio Farris Architects. Equaling a capacity of 20 people. The addition of the acoustic and fabric covered walls remove the unavoidable distractions within the employee’s field of vision.
Boardroom and executive office
The boardroom table is custom-made in a fossil oak veneer finish with leather Vincent Van Duysen chairs to seat 16 people. In the executive office we find the organic Senses Rock with the Vincent Van Duysen chair. An iconic building designed by Léon Stynen would not be complete without a leather SL58. The chair blends in completely with the choice of the leather Vincent Van Duysen chairs.
